Similar to a personal reading assistant, Reading Machine aids users in deciphering new words based on their letter and sound combinations. The application can be utilized while perusing physical books or digital material on an iPad. It complements parent-child reading sessions and is beneficial for older readers who prefer independent reading without constant assistance. Learners of all ages can boost their self-assurance by independently mastering new words with the app's guidance.

Developed by a parent, cognitive scientist, and literacy scholar, Reading Machine's comprehensive dictionary leverages a human voice database to aid in pronunciation for over 5,000 words. Additionally, the app features a text-to-speech engine for enunciating all other words. As users progress from basic to more intricate words, the dictionary offers personalized decoding support, spanning from individual phonemes and letters to multi-letter sounds, syllables, prefixes, suffixes, root words, and compound words.
The application also provides parents with book recommendations that align with their children's interests and aptitudes.
